The Red Fern Review Publishes My Flash Fiction Story “The Hit”

Am very excited to have my 500-word flash fiction piece “The Hit” appear in the new Spring 2025 issue of The Red Fern Review. Many thanks to great editors.

This piece is a bit different from many of the stories and short stories I’ve had published over the past couple of years. How? It’s tranquil. Hah! It’s a linear narrative about a young kid growing up playing sports. Truly. No splatterpunk, no crime fiction, no psychological horror (all of which I like to read and write and which enjoys a readership, fans of those sub-genres) — just a simple story many may be able to relate to, one I enjoyed telling and a story I’m grateful to the Red Fern Review editors who wanted to share my vision.

Please consider reading the story as well as this Spring 2025 Red Fern Review issue. The link I’m providing takes you to the magazine and not my individual piece and with no TOC, one has to scroll down the page to find my story, but it’s otherwise straightforward and easy to go through and unlike some of these 300 page publications one finds out there, this issue contains fewer than a dozen poets and writers so even if scrolling down to find a story seems unappealing, it’s not far and doesn’t take any time, so again, please support the journal and maybe give it a Like (a WP site) or leave a comment there or here. As always, thank you all very much and here’s to a good week for everyone!
