You may have noticed the Bernard Fall book review I posted earlier this morning was not new as of June 2025 or any other recent moment. Indeed, I wrote it near the end of 2021. I posted it here today for a few reasons though, among them book reviews have historically been my most popular things for viewers/followers to read as well as I’ve admittedly written very few lately and I feel badly about that. Additionally, on Goodreads where I’ve probably got a thousand reviews, I continue to get messages from people or comments or likes (or dislikes) on reviews that are 5, 10, 15 years old and while I don’t know how they’re all found, obviously many remain relevant for a lot of people so since that seems to be the case, I thought I might add a few more over here despite some predating 2025.
I’ve also wanted to point out, though I have lacked the time to do so, that I’ve done a lot of work on this site with a special emphasis on this homepage, even if it’s not immediately obvious. I’ve added a sidebar section listing my most recent publications (with links) for any who may be interested. I’ve also modified the Categories section, “retiring” some no longer used as well as flat out deleting some, and adding some others while placing more of an emphasis on my writing and less on business, science and other assorted topics. Most important as it relates to book reviews, I’ve published hundreds here over the years, though most are from way back, but I realized as I spent months going through my archives here that most weren’t tagged as such and hence weren’t searchable and readable so I’ve gone through and tried to identify book reviews here on this site, and I brought the minimum count of them up to over 430, as seen in the Categories section on the sidebar. I hope those of you who have liked reading my book reviews in the past or may like them but didn’t know I wrote any will find many you never knew about now easily accessible and will hopefully benefit from that. Nearly half were sci fi and I identified those as well as a few others in fantasy and other genres. I then also decided to add sub-categories indicating books I gave 1-star to and thereby thought largely worthless (barely 30), but much more important, which ones I gave 5-stars to (over 100) so that you might check them out if interested. I can’t do much more realistically but there is a decent search feature at the bottom of the sidebar which I use myself and it can be surprisingly helpful, so there you are!
I would like to do more but I am severely time and energy-challenged and trying to do what little I can do in many areas in the short times I have available so I appreciate your patience and understanding. That said, if there are suggestions or other things you’d like to see, feel free to comment or fill out the online form to message me and let me know your thoughts. Thanks and have a good weekend.
