Right Shoulder Arthroscopy With Rotator Cuff Repair Subacromial Decompression Long Head Biceps Tenotomy surgery tomorrow, 1/15/26

Hello. Yesterday it was finally confirmed that tomorrow I will be undergoing this surgery: Right Shoulder Arthroscopy With Rotator Cuff Repair Subacromial Decompression Long Head Biceps Tenotomy.

It’s been a long time coming. This stems from a horrid injury (or series of injuries) I suffered in the summer of 2024. I started trying to get this surgery worked out a year ago and it was scheduled for May 2025, then canceled a week before I was to have it. Things have gotten much worse in the meantime, and the hoops I’ve had to jump through the last few weeks to get this rescheduled for now have trashed my patience. But apparently it’s finally going to happen. And it’s actually supposed to be a bit more complex than it sounds because I’m that messed up. In addition to repairing the rotator cuff, the surgeon said he’s going to completely remove my bicep, which he said was basically shredded and couldn’t be repaired. Two more things as well, including an arm/shoulder ball/joint repair, etc.

Now I’m going to have to learn a new kind of patience and my poor wife is going to have to play nurse for a long time. They estimate I’ll be largely incapacitated for 4-6+ weeks and in a sling for 8-12 weeks. Naturally I’m right handed (and armed, etc.). So it’s hard to say how often or how long it’ll be before I can really go online, at least in any communication capacity of note. I’m usually fast to recover but it’s less so as I age. I just wanted to let anyone reading this know I’ll likely be out of touch for awhile, possibly a long while. Feel free to send good vibes. I hope I’ll be back soon. Cheers and stay safe.
