I have a new story that is currently featured by the Hidden Peak Press (2/15/2024) and scheduled to appear in the next issue of the Hidden Peak Review: “Surviving It All.”
This is a fairly newish publishing company headed by some experienced professionals with real cred based in the greater metro-Denver area. They do a nice job, publish high quality poetry and fiction for the journal and publish award-winning books. Something that stood out to me and helped me decide to send them some of my work was that their self-described top submission rule is “Do not bore us.” Damn, I like that! I didn’t know whether I’d pass that test, but since they also describe their company as “An independent literary press featuring poetry and short fiction at the confluence of Charles Simic and Ray Bradbury,” while this guarantees nothing and I don’t believe I ever mentioned it to the editors, I felt good as I’ve been published with both Bradbury and the Pulitzer-winning late US Poet Laureate Simic several times before. I thought maybe…? Fortunately, yes…
I’m happy Hidden Peak Press published my story this week and I encourage people to visit their site, look around, read some stories and poems and if you write poetry or short fiction, consider submitting something. I added a link to them several months ago on my growing Literary Links, Resources & Defunct Legends webpage — feel free to look that site over if you haven’t, and even if you have, I’m always trying to add a few more links and resources. Feel free to leave comments or suggestions and thanks for dropping by. Cheers!
